Anthony Hope was one of a group of writers who became well known for stories of this kind. The Prisoner of Zenda is one of the very best adventure novels from this period. It became an international success when it appeared in 1894, and has remained popular since then. The books opens with the adventure-loving. Rudolfh Rassendyll has plenty of money, loves to travel and speaks a number of European langguages extremly well.
